Biography

Francesco Giordano is currently Ph.D student at “Polytechnic of Turin” with a scholarship volute from “Terna S.p.a”. His research concerns the identification of the impact and potentialities of the future electric vehicles’ development on the electric grid. More in details, the core of the research is the feasibility of bidirectional power flow from and to the vehicles (Vehicle-to-Grid Technology).

Before choosing the path of the Ph.D, Francesco Giordano have spent more the one year (2016-2017) working at “Edison S.p.a”. During this year he had the opportunity to administrate the “Energy Storage Research Lab”. The aim of the lab is to tests and technically reviews commercial energy storage systems for residential.

His university journey started at the “University of Catania” where he got the bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering. Thus, he moved to the Polytechnic of Turin where he met also the opportunity to spend a year (2014-2015) of study and research at the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH) of Stockholm. Thanks to the help of the professors from both Polytechnic of Turin and KTH he had the chance to investigates and design the new solutions related to the micro grid optimized control.

Finally, during the 2019 he was part of the team that won the Innovation program “Innovation for Change” organized in collaboration between Polytechnic of Turin, “Fondazione Agnelli”, and CERN of Geneva. The team have presented an innovative low-cost solution for reducing the cooling energy demand in buildings.
