Biography

Born in Turin (TO) on 13 May 1974, since January 2002 she has been carrying out research activities at the current Department of Applied Science and Technology (DISAT) of Politecnico di Torino, first as a PhD student in Materials Science and Technology, then as a researcher (from April 2006), as Associate Professor (from November 2016) and finally as Full Professor (from December 2019). She received the PhD in January 2005, following the completion of a PhD thesis in co-tutorship with the INSA (Institut National des Sciences Appliquées) of Lyon as part of a Internationalization project of the PhD funded by MIUR. In June 2000 she received the habiltation as a Chemist. In December 1999 she graduated in Industrial Chemistry at the Università di Torino, with a score of 109/110. She currently holds courses in Italian and English on 'Science and Technology of Materials' within the ' Restoration Project' Ateliers of the Master's Degree in Architecture for Heritage and on' Sustainability of processes and products in materials for architecture' of the Master's Degree in Architecture for the Sustainable Project. Her scientific activity focuses on materials, especially ceramics and their composites, for structural, high temperature, biomedical, functional and environmental applications. The reserach focuses on both engineering ceramic materials and traditional ones. In the first case, particular attention is given to unconventional syntheses and to the characterization of simple and composite powders, to the development and characterization of porous components; to the sintering of mono- and multi-phase materials, to the design and additive manufacturing by stereolithography of engineering ceramics. In the field of traditional ceramics, research focuses on sustainable binders and building materials developed from industrial by-products, on the capture and storage of CO2 by building materials, on the development of new geopolymeric and alkaline-activated materials.
