Rail transportation, which has experienced significant growth in recent years, especially with high-speed trains, is the subject of research related to the stability and comfort of train operation, wheel-rail contact, and vehicle monitoring. Research activities are carried out through modelling and internally developed test benches. Specifically, the following are used and developed:
- multibody and FEM calculation codes;
- prototype of a narrow-gauge bogie;
- scale prototype of a high-speed freight bogie;
- test benches for bushings, multiple-axle bogies, and seats;
- monitoring system for passenger and freight vehicles.
DIMEAS groups involved:
Design and experimentation of railway and industrial systems and microsystems
- PE8_7 Mechanical and manufacturing engineering (shaping, mounting, joining, separation)
- PE8_5 Fluid mechanics, hydraulic-, turbo-, and piston- engines
- Train dynamics
- Wheel-rail contact
- Monitoring
