UnILiON Annual Event 2024 - Propelling Europe’s AI Revolution: the role and impact of universities
As member of UnILiON, the informal network of Brussels-based offices representing over 160 universities across Europe, as well as in the UK, Japan and Norway, Politecnico di Torino has contributed, through its Brussels hub, to the organisation of its annual event. This year's theme is the impact of Artificial Intelligence on Universities (Agenda), opportunities, challenges, and best practices at Higher Education Institutions to upcoming key European Union policy developments such as the implementation of the Artificial Intelligence Act, the establishment of the European AI Office, and the call for AI Factories.
The aim of this session is to discuss:
· How can we trust AI and ensure it is a force for good?
· What is the EU’s position on AI with the Union’s competitiveness at stake?
· How are universities tackling the rapidly developing changes in AI across educational, research, and operational aspects?
· How do universities contribute to addressing European and global challenges, from their local environment to the European and global scales, through using as well as researching and providing training on AI?
· What support do universities and the wider R&I community need from EU institutions, and vice-versa?
· How can we best bring together industry, science, and policy to tackle Europe’s AI ambitions?
Various officers from the European Commission's DG Connect and speakers from European universities, including the Deputy Rector, Prof. Elena Baralis, will take part. The Vice-Rector for Territorial, National and European Policies, Prof. Mariachiara Zanetti, will be present to take part in the discussions.
