Interior Architecture and Exhibition

In the context of the PhD Programme in Architectural Heritage, the disciplines of ‘Interior Architecture’ are important tools for the knowledge, conservation and enhancement of movable and immovable heritage. In particular, the spaces, characteristics and elements of interiors, which are the raison d'être of architecture, require in-depth study to be preserved, protected and enhanced. The study and knowledge of these elements and their material and cultural value involve an appropriate methodological approach, which is also necessary for setting up any repurposing projects.

In particular, the discipline of Interiors, in the forms of Museography and Exhibition Design, offers a theoretical and technical perspective on the communication, interpretation and enhancement of heritage. The related debate, in its historical evolution as well as in its contemporary manifestations, provides the necessary cultural background for the topics covered by the PhD Programme, broadening its horizons.
