Estimation and economic valuation

The economic valuation of architectural and landscape heritage addresses the theoretical, methodological, and applied issues of creating value in its multidimensional sense, in relation to individual assets, systems of assets, and territorial contexts. This involves experimentation with methods aimed at measuring value (not just in monetary terms) and the economic evaluation of interventions conceived throughout the entire life cycle − from the strategic phase to the tactical phase of execution, management, and maintenance.

It also involves developing sensitivity towards the preservation of memory and the effects in contexts of polarization of such heritage and/or dissemination in non-urbanized territories. Dialogue with other disciplines leads to experimenting with the feasibility/sustainability dimension in even innovative approaches on:

  1. methods of analysing cultural demand and consumption in relation to circuits of valorisation with quality standards in cultural consumption;
  2. analysis of the relationships between UNESCO heritage with the market, authorial interventions, and perception of quality;
  3. approaches for the evaluation of the economic, environmental, and social sustainability of interventions on individual/complex assets in the perspective of the life cycle.
