International mobility incentives for Phd candidates

As part of the initiatives aimed at strengthening the internationalization of our University and our PhD programs, we would like to draw your attention to a new opportunity strongly supported by the Academic Senate and the Board of Directors to concretely support your research paths: incentives for international mobility.
Carrying out a period of research abroad represents a fundamental step to enrich your scientific project, engage with different academic contexts, increase your scientific visibility, and build international collaboration networks.
For this reason, the University provides an additional financial contribution to support mobility periods of at least six months, to be planned within an internationalization project agreed upon with your Supervisor.
The initiative is addressed to PhD candidates enrolled from the 39th cycle onwards, with additional opportunities for more recent cycles for experiences in countries considered strategic for the University, and allows you to obtain:
  • a basic contribution for research activities abroad;
  • an additional contribution for joint supervision (cotutelle) pathways;
  • a further incentive (from the 40th cycle onwards) for long-term mobility at institutions based in China, Japan, or the United States of America.
The request for the contribution is submitted through the PhD dashboard and does not have strict deadlines; however, it is strongly recommended to apply by the second year in order to ensure optimal planning and management of activities abroad.
We are confident that many of you will seize this opportunity to give an even more international dimension to your research work.
The dashboard section for entering the Internationalization Project is active from today: Thursday, April 9.
You are also all invited to attend a webinar presenting the initiative, scheduled for April 14, 2026 at 4 pm, using the following link.
