Biography

I have a Master Degree in Biomedical Engineering and I am currently a PhD student in Bioengineering and MedicalSurgical Science at Politecnico di Torino, Italy. My research consists of the design of biomimetic scaffolds by rapid prototyping methods and their functionalization to guide cell behaviour for tissue regeneration and in vitro modelling. In more detail, I worked on design of in vitro models of human tissue, such as heart scar tissue, esophageus epitelium tissue and muscler tissue, based on bioartificial scaffolds and cellularised hydrogels. I also conducted part of my research in UKE, Hamburg, in thepharmacology and toxicology department, working on the development of a mecanical stimulation sistem to induce pathological condition on human in vitro model of cardiac tissue. During my PhD i worked mostly on coupling and designing materials to trigger cells behaviour to reproduce specific condition. I worked both with synthetic and natural material. I used mainly melt extrusion additive manufacturing to produce polycaprolactone (PCL) based scaffold, eventualy surface functionalized, and copupled with cellularized hydrogel such asgelatin meacryloyl (GelMA).
