Study visits and field trips

Students of the Master’s degree programme in Georesources and Geoenergy Engineering will have the opportunity to participate in study visits and field trips that allow them to deepen the contents covered in the classroom from a more applicative point of view.

The trips may include both field activities and visits to industrial sites operating in fields that are related to the study programme.

Course: Excavation Engineering and Underground Works and Mining

Visit to the underground gypsum quarry "Cava San Pietro Prato Nuovo" managed by the company Estrazione Gesso. Demonstration of the room and pillar exploitation method, operated with a drill and blast technique.

Course: Petroleum and Mining Geology

Visit to the Ecomuseum of mines and Val Germanasca: the students were led to discover how talc of Val Germanasca was once extracted and to dive into the geological past was made to discover how it is possible to find rocks of oceanic origin at the top of the mountains of the Val Germanasca through the discovery of a famous tectonic contact between the EuroAsian Plate and the African Plate visible right at the inside the "ScopriAlpi" tunnel.
