Specialist tracks

In order to further enrich and customise your training, during your final year the Master's degree programme in Engineering and Management offers various specialist tracks. Although these tracks are strongly recommended to students for targeted training consistent with specific professional fields, they are not binding. Each student, in fact, retains complete freedom to configure his or her own study plan, selecting subjects even from different paths, in order to build a tailor-made education that best meets his or her professional aspirations and personal interests.

You will know the technical-operational, legal and strategic aspects of technological innovation. You will understand its requirements and its socio-economic impact on the business system and general context.

A track dedicated to the study of the characteristics of the financial market, the different types of financial intermediaries, methods for determining company ratings and the pricing of credit risk.

You will study management and innovation economics, strategic marketing and entrepreneurship that will allow you to contribute to managing and organizing the development of a new product or service within a company, with regard to the best choices for design, engineering of the product and production process / service delivery, strategic and economic evaluation of market positioning of a new product, including the choices for designing a business model and for evaluating a business idea.

The tertiary sector is worth over 70% of GDP in Italy today. The track focuses on the study of the economic and managerial tools and models required to design and deliver services with a high innovation content, taking into account the technological and institutional specificities of the service sectors. In addition, you will learn the methodologies for assessing and controlling the quality of services as well as the tools for the design and management of ICT-based technologies in the services sector.

This track is dedicated to the management of innovation and product development in the ICT sector, topics concerning the design and management of a corporate information system and knowledge of the main Business Intelligence approaches.

The track is held entirely in Italian. The subjects suggested for specialisation are:

You will learn about the new production approaches linked to Industry 4.0 and product development innovation, with a view to integrating the product-process pair.

You will study economics of management and innovation, strategic marketing and entrepreneurship, which will enable you to contribute to the management and organisation of the development of a new product or service within a company, with regard to the best choices for the design, engineering of the product and the production/service delivery process, the strategic and economic evaluation of the market positioning of a new product, including choices for the design of a business model and the evaluation of a business idea.

In the Management of Sustainability and Technology track, you will explore the dynamics of sustainable management and technological innovation, focusing your training on sustainable development strategies, clean technologies and corporate social responsibility. This track will prepare you to contribute to the management and organisation of technological innovation within companies, with a focus on best practices for sustainable development, the engineering of products and processes that respect the principles of sustainability, and the strategic and economic assessment of the environmental and social impact of new products or services. In addition, you will be equipped with the tools to design eco-sustainable business models and to evaluate business ideas that focus on the balance between innovation, environmental sustainability and economic value.

In this track you will learn about the innovative aspects of space systems technologies and the economic spin-offs that can result from this highly innovative and rapidly developing sector. You will be able to assess the impacts that the availability of new technologies and data sources can bring, with a focus on analysing the possibilities of services and applications for new companies in the sector or for extensions to other industries.

You will deepen your understanding of topics such as value creation in supply chains and their influence on production and distribution systems, the set-up of logistics networks, outsourcing of logistics activities and how to measure performance and evaluate costs, the impact of new digital technologies, logistics solutions implemented in different industrial and commercial sectors, the impact on the sustainability of supply chains, and the management and design of storage systems. In addition, you will acquire knowledge of software environments for the simulation of production systems and supply chains.
