This section is dedicated to the most frequently asked questions about the Cinema and Digital Media Engineering degree program. The information is divided into categories, aiming to provide a clear and structured reference on various topics.

By attending any course in the Engineering area, is it possible to move on to Film Engineering in the second year without debt?

Yes, if you are already enrolled in the first year, you can move on to the second year of Cinema Engineering with all the exams you have already taken in the first year recognized.

 

If I fill in the Personal Study Plan and pay the registration fee, can I still change my Personal Study Plan and Annual Personal Study Plan by the deadline for completing the application?

Yes.

 

After obtaining the three-year degree, does the degree allow me to enroll in the professional register of engineers and practice the profession, limited to the title I have?

Film Engineering is of the L-8 degree class (Information Engineering), like Computer Science, Electronics and Management. You can also take the State Exam as a bachelor's degree. The State Exam is not so relevant in our sector, however, if you are interested you can look at all the documentation available on the dedicated page.

 

Can only free credit be replaced with credits deriving from extra activities (such as the student team) or also the internship (in the event that you get, for example, 10 student team credits)?

The internship is equivalent to free choice credits. The student team can allow you to exempt the internship.

 

How long will we actually have to wait to do "practical" work such as making films or studying 3D modeling programs etc., will it be from the third year onwards or will something be done in the second year as well?

The practical work will begin already in the second year, in particular the Film Production course (I semester II year) includes the creation of a short film and the Interactive Media course (II semester II year) the creation of an interactive installation. Then in the third year there are the other Transmedia projects, modeling on Blender, etc.

What does the final exam consist of?

During the Computer Networks exam, an open-ended question on additional material among the following subjects:

  • Databases
  • Computer networks
  • Computer graphics
  • Digital creative industries

 

Is the internship mandatory?
No, it is not mandatory.

 

How to start an internship? What is the difference between a 10 or 12 CFU internship?

The 10-credit internship corresponds to 250 hours, the 12-credit internship to 300 hours. To start an internship, it must be present in the APSP. You can choose from the proposals of companies in the jobs tab or you can search among the affiliated companies and contact them to start an internship.

At the end of the internship, a written paper, 30 pages, must be delivered describing the experience and the results obtained.

 

Can I start an internship with a company that does not have an agreement with the Politecnico?

Yes, it is possible to activate an internship with a non-affiliated company, but first the company must enter into an agreement with the Polytechnic.

 

Does choosing the internship (and therefore exceeding 180 CFU) entail an increase in degree points proportional to the "overrun" CFU?

No, it does not result in an increase in points. The extra credits will be considered extracurricular.
