Cosmologies. Rethinking Anomalies in Urban and Architectural Research on China and Beyon | #02 Movie Screening
Cosmologies series continues with the screening of Ascension (2021), directed by Jessica Kingdon.
The film offers a hypnotic portrait of contemporary China through the rituals of labour, production, and social mobility, showing how collective aspirations are shaped within global capitalism, which promises progress while normalising alienation and competition.
The screening will be followed by a critical discussion on the themes raised by the film, reflecting on the relationship between design, technology and society, and will take place on Tuesday, 14 April 2026 at 19:30.
The event is held within the Tecnologia Diffusa (Biennale Tecnologia) framework and in partnership with the Università Popolare di Torino.
Moderated by Valentina Labriola from the Department of Architecture and Design-DAD, the film selection will be accompanied by a critical dialogue between Professor Francesca Frassoldati and Professor Alessandro Armando, both from the Department of Architecture and Design-DAD at Politecnico di Torino.
