Between knowledge and workshop practices

On 11 and 12 June 2026 will take place the event titled Between knowledge and workshop practices. Training, Artistic Exchanges and Technical Languages in the Renaissance (15th - early 17th century) | lnternational Seminars of Young Researchers on the Renaissance.

Organised by Politecnico di Torino (Department of Architecture and Design-DAD - Construction History Group) in collaboration with Università degli Studi di Torino (Dipartimento di Studi Storici), this event continues a prestigious tradition of international seminars for young Renaissance researchers. Originally established at the University of Leipzig, this traveling series has previously visited Würzburg, Jaén, Paris, and Prague, establishing itself as a vital European hub for academic exchange.

Programme and Thematic Areas
The two-day programme is structured around three key thematic sessions exploring the intersection of architectural theory and workshop practice:
  1. Constructive Knowledge on the Move: Cultural, technical, and artistic transfers across different geographies.
  2. Decoration, Scenography, and Gardens: The study of complementary building sites and the integration of various artistic disciplines.
  3. Professionals and Technicians on Building Sites: Dynamics of cooperation and interaction among different trades.
