Borrowed Landscape: The Reinterpretation of the Classical Garden in Chinese Signature Villas
The China Room PhD student Francesca La Monaca (XXXVII cycle) will discuss her ongoing research with Mauro Berta and Hanqing Zhao.
This research explores how the classical Chinese garden and the concept of borrowed landscape are reinterpreted in contemporary residential architecture. Through a critical analysis of selected case studies, the study investigates how traditional forms and spatial principles are adapted to modern needs, revealing tensions between cultural identity, market dynamics, and architectural innovation in present-day China.

Event coordinated by Camilla Forina and Leonardo Ramondetti.
