The platformization of the rural - Spaces of Digital Labor in Rural China
The China Room PhD student Sofia Leoni (XXXVIII cycle, PhD in Urban and Regional Development) will discuss her ongoing research with Luis Martin (Post-Doc; DIST-Polito), and the China Room PhD candidate Lu Xian (XXXVI cycle).
The research is focused on emerging Taobao villages and their role in the infrastructural transformation of the “Invisible China”.
The presentation will focus on two case studies, which illustrate how digital platforms foster localized entrepreneurship, reconfigure supply chains, and create new patterns of spatial organization, highlighting the interplay between spaces and production.
The event titled "The platformization of the rural - Spaces of Digital Labor in Rural China", part of the China Room Seminar Series coordinated by Camilla Forina and Leonardo Ramondetti, will take place on 19 February 2025 from 2,30 to 4,30 pm.
The event will be held online, to connect click here.
