Biography

Pier Federico Caliari (Turin, 1964) Architect and PhD in Interior Architecture and Exhibition, graduated cum laude in Architecture in 1991 at Politecnico di Milano. He is Full Professor in Interior Architecture and Design at the Department of Architecture Design at the Politecnico di Torino. In 2003 he was among the founders of the International Seminar of Museography of Villa Adriana Piranesi-Prix de Rome, which he edited all the eighteen editions. Since 2016 he has been President of the Accademia Adrianea di Architettura e Archeologia Onlus. For the same institute he directs the Master in Museography, Architecture and Archaeology. Strategic design and innovative management of archaeological heritage. He curated international workshops and held lectures in several Countries. He has published essays and monographs including: “La Forma dell'Effimer”o (2000), “Museografia. Teoria estetica e metodologia didattica” (2003), “Tractatus Logico Sintattico. La forma trasparente di Villa Adriana” (2012), “Architettura per l'Archeologia. Museografia e Allestimento” (2014) with L.B. Peressut and “La Forma della Bellezza” (2019). Passionate researcher of Villa Adriana, he elaborated the polar-hypotactical theory of the regulatory axes at the basis of the general composition of the Villa. In 2018 he promoted and organized, in partnership with the Institute Villa Adriana - Villa d'Este and the City of Tivoli the International Call for Design for the redevelopment of the UNESCO Buffer Zone of Villa Adriana. He has realized architectural and museographic projects for public assignments. Among these, in collaboration with others, the Profane Museum at the Vatican Museums, the Civic Museums of Monza, the Museum of Cycling Madonna del Ghisallo in Magreglio (CO), and the MUST in Vimercate (MI), with which he won the ICOM Italia prize for the best Italian museum exhibition of 2011.
