Biography

Paolo Tasca was born in Palermo in 1999. After graduating with top marks from the Scientific High School "A. Einstein" in Palermo, he earned a Bachelor's degree in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Palermo in 2020, achieving a final grade of 110/110 with honors. During the final year of his undergraduate studies, he spent six months abroad as part of the Erasmus program at the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya in Barcelona, Spain.
In 2020, he enrolled in the Master's program in Biomedical Engineering at Politecnico di Torino, graduating in December 2022 with the highest distinction (110/110 cum laude). His thesis, titled "A machine learning approach for spatio-temporal gait analysis based on a head-mounted inertial sensor", focused on developing and validating machine learning methods for estimating walking speed in real-world conditions using data from a single inertial sensor placed on the head.
Alongside his Master’s studies, he was selected for the "Alta Scuola Politecnica" honors program, a joint initiative between Politecnico di Torino and Politecnico di Milano, which he successfully completed in February 2022.
In 2023, he began his academic career at Politecnico di Torino as a research fellow. Since October 2023, he has been a PhD student in the Doctoral Program in Bioengineering and Surgical-Medical Sciences (39th cycle).
