Biography
Ladislau Matekovits was born in Arad (Romania), in 1967. He received the degree in electronic engineering from Institutul Politehnic din Bucuresti, Bucuresti, Romania and Ph.D. (Dottorato di Ricerca) degree in electronic engineering form Politecnico di Torino, Torino, Italy in 1992 and 1995 respectively. Since 1995 he is with the same Electronics Department of the Politecnico di Torino, first with a post-doctoral fellowship, and further as a Research Assistant. He joined to the same Department as Assistant Professor in 2001 and was appointed as Senior Assistant Professor in 2005. In late 2005 Ladislau Matekovits was Visiting Scientist at the Antennas and Scattering Department of the FGAN-FHR, Wachtberg, Germany. Since July 1st 2009 to Dr. Matekovits is a Marie Curie Fellow (three years): he has spent two years at the Macquarie University, Sydney, NSW, Australia, and now is continuing his activity at the Politecnico di Torino. His main research activities concern numerical analysis of printed antennas and in particular development of new, numerically efficient full-wave techniques to analyse large arrays, dispersion engineering of metamaterials, UWB antennas, optimization techniques and reconfigurable antennas. For his research activity Dr. Matekovits has been granted by many national and international awards. Dr. Matekovits is member of various conferences program committee. He has been Assistant Chairman of the TPC of the European Microwave Conference 2002 and of the European Microwave Week Local Committee., 23-27 Sept. 2002, Milan, Italy. He serves as reviewer for many prestigious publications and as evaluator of research projects funded by the Italian Ministry of Education, University and Research.
