Abstract

The proposed study deals with the analysis and design of a cargo bike with a blender operated by a pedal system as an appropriate technology for the context in question.

The case study is located in northern Uganda, in the city of Gulu. The project aims to develop a device that can help reduce fruit waste in the markets by transforming it into juices and at the same time generate employment by promoting sustainable entrepreneurship practices and innovative solutions suited to the context.

The thesis focuses on the development of the concept, design, construction and testing of a pedal machine suitable for the purpose described above. The focus of the research work must be not only on solving the technical problem but also on analyzing the social, environmental and economic impact of the solution.

We propose a period in the field with the local partner (https://www.takatakaplastics.com/) to better understand the context, follow the creation of the prototypes and the implementation of the project.
