Abstract

The consortium will develop, promote and implement challenge-based learning, where challenges come from local actors in society aiming for sustainable improvements. This will (1) develop students' entrepreneurial skills, (2) develop their competences in various sustainability-relevant sectors and (3) promote active citizenship. These are three key priorities of the EU. The project will furthermore study the creation of impact through CBL, and methods on how to measure the impact. The project will first identify the problems and hurdles encountered for fully deploying our ideas. This includes doing a survey and interviewing all stakeholders (students, teachers, program managers, stakeholders in local organizations, local innovation ecosystems) in the various cities of the partners in order to identify the hurdles and propose effective solutions. The ecosystems of the different partners are different; we are convinced that many solutions can be customized to various contexts. The project will design and create a pilot challenge-based learning course. The format of the course should be repeatable, in different countries (geographical dimension) and in the future (temporal dimension). The focus of the CBL course will be on skills development: innovation and entrepreneurial skills, forward-looking skills, civic and social skills, green skills, digital skills, and intercultural competences. All these skills will strengthen the employability of our graduates. Attention will be paid to making the targeted skills explicit and measurable.
