Agreement proposals can be submitted by the teaching staff of Politecnico or by foreign Universities. In both cases, it is necessary that a Politecnico faculty member undertakes to advance the conclusion of the agreement.
The International Relations Office negotiates and defines the contents of the agreement with the foreign University; at the same time it facilitates its approval process within Politecnico.
The faculty member who intends to propose a new agreement must contact the International Relations Office and fill out a form (Agreement Proposal Sheet) for approval by the Vice-Rector for International Affairs (in case of Memorandum of Understanding) or by the Vice-Rectors for International Affairs and for Education (in case of Student Mobility Agreement and Double Degree Agreement).
The Agreement Proposal Sheet for a Memorandum of Understanding is submitted to the approval of the Vice-Rector for International Affairs and managed by the International Relations Office, which negotiates and defines the contents of the agreement with the foreign University.
Proposals for Student Mobility Agreements and Double Degree Agreements are previously examined by the International Relations Office and later sent to the relevant Collegio and Department. These will decide if they are interested and will officially approve the proposals.
In the event that the agreement proposals for student exchanges, double degrees or other kinds of international programmes are not compliant with the rules set forth by the University standards (cfr. Annexes to the Regulations for Conventions and Contracts, templates for student exchange and double degree agreements), the approval of the Board of Governors is required.
Afterwards the International Relations Office prepares a draft agreement which will be submitted to the partner University. The partner University is entitled to propose further amendments until the Parties reach and sign a final agreement which meets the administrative and academic requirements of all Parties.
Erasmus+ student and staff mobility from / to non-European countries (Partner Countries) can only take place if Politecnico has signed an Erasmus+ Interinstitutional Agreement with the host institution. The agreement is drafted by the International Affairs Department with the support of the faculty member who has proposed the new partnership.
Mobility is financially supported by funds of the Erasmus+ National Agency. These funds are granted annually, separately for each country of destination, on the basis of a project proposal submitted by Politecnico and within the limits of the funds available for Italy, in a competitive evaluation process between all Italian universities participating in the call. As a general rule, the deadline for project submission is in February.
Every year Politecnico submits a project proposal for a limited number of countries chosen by the Vice-Rector for International Affairs. This decision is based on the internationalization strategy of the University, on the relevance of the cooperation with the country and on the evaluation parameters adopted by the European Commission.
Faculty members who are interested in proposing mobility programmes with new partner universities or with new countries are encouraged to express their interest to the International Affairs Department - International Projects and Development Cooperation Office. They are invited to make specific reference to any important cooperation project already underway and to clearly motivate the reasons for the creation of new mobility opportunities. The proposals will be evaluated by the Vice-Rector for International Affairs and will be included in the Erasmus+ project of the following year.
For more information, please contact the International Projects and Development Cooperation Office.
The Erasmus+ Programme provides for the signing of interinstitutional agreements between European universities. These agreements are concluded upon a proposal of the teaching staff of Politecnico, or upon a direct proposal of a foreign University. The procedure is different depending on the promoter of the proposal:
