PoliTO Cinema | Pride

Politecnico di Torino returns with the PoliTo Cinema series. The next event, exceptionally postponed to the end of May to coincide with the Pride period and highlight its significance, will take place on Thursday 28 May at 8:00 pm in the Aula Magna at Corso Duca degli Abruzzi 24. The film "Pride" (Matthew Warchus, 2014, 120’) will be screened.

Pride is a comedy-drama based on a true story and set in 1980s England. A group of LGBTQIA+ activists decides to support a community of striking miners, leading to an unexpected encounter. The film shows how prejudice and hostility can turn into curiosity, empathy, and solidarity, highlighting the value of alliances and intersectionality in the struggle for civil rights.

The screening will be preceded by a discussion moderated by Daniele Marchisio, member of the Equal Opportunities Committee, with:
  • Antonio Vercellone, lecturer in queer studies at the University of Turin
  • Chiara Tarantello, co-coordinator of the Torino Pride Coordination
  • Enrico Maria Verra, representative of AIACE Torino
  • Greta Temporin, member of the Gender Studies Centre
  • Andrea Stagni, representative of the Alan Turing Collective
The screening will be in English with Italian subtitles.

All PoliTo Cinema events are free of charge, subject to seat availability.
