Too Good to Scrap | Open Days 2026 Edition
Too Good to Scrap is a new initiative launched by the Green Team in collaboration with the Direzione Studi, with the aim of reducing waste and enhancing materials that can still be reused.
The initiative is part of the University’s path towards more sustainable event organisation models, based on reuse and more responsible resource management.
The initiative draws inspiration from the projects developed within the course Designing and Developing the Circular Economy for the 2024/2025 academic year, in which Master’s degree students in architecture and design worked on the issue of waste generated by event organisation, developing scenarios, reuse methods and prototypes. During the Open Days, at the PoliTO Sostenibile stands, some of the prototypes created using materials similar to those provided by Too Good to Scrap will be displayed, offering concrete examples of possible reuse of event waste materials.
On the occasion of the Open Days 2026, Too Good to Scrap aims to promote the reuse of furniture and exhibition materials that would otherwise be discarded at the end of the event. Following an initial pilot during the previous edition, this year the project is being expanded to involve the entire University community. In addition to the opportunity for degree programme coordinators to retain the furnishings of their own stands, students, staff and departments can reserve materials that have not yet been requested, including Forex and foam panels, PVC sheets and flag banners. This is a concrete opportunity to give new life to existing resources and contribute to waste reduction.
The materials are made available to the entire community with no restrictions on use. They can be reused for teaching activities and exercises or for personal use.
Collection of the materials is scheduled for 30 March 2026 at the Open Days venues:
Materials can be booked via the form available at the following link.
