GeoAI - Artificial Intelligence for Geospatial data

The use of Artificial Intelligence is transforming many sectors, from medicine to physics, from the humanities to engineering.
In this context, geospatial data play a fundamental role in the study of phenomena such as climate change, environmental risk, and infrastructure management through predictive maintenance strategies.

On 18–19 December 2025, Turin will host GeoAI 2025, the third national workshop dedicated to the integration of geospatial data and artificial intelligence.

The event will take place at the Energy Center of Politecnico di Torino, bringing together researchers, professionals, public administrations, and representatives from academia and industry to discuss the latest innovations in the field.
The workshop is organized by the GeoAI 2025 Committee, which brings together experts from leading institutions:
  • Politecnico di Torino – Andrea Lingua, Fabio Giulio Tonolo, Francesca Matrone
  • Bruno Kessler Foundation (FBK) – Fabio Remondino
  • University of Macerata – Marina Paolanti
  • Polytechnic University of Marche – Roberto Pierdicca
The event is held under the patronage of the scientific associations ASITA (Italian Scientific Associations for Territory and Environment), SIFET (Italian Society of Photogrammetry and Surveying), AIT (Italian Association of Remote Sensing), GFOSS (Free and Open Source Geospatial Information Association), and the FAIR Foundation (Future Artificial Intelligence Research).

The program, structured around thematic sessions ranging from Earth observation to environmental monitoring, from infrastructure analysis to 3D models and UAV applications, highlights the level of maturity reached by AI-based techniques in the geospatial domain. Today, reliable tools and well-established methodologies enable the effective, productive, and professional use of artificial intelligence to address real-world challenges in territorial, environmental, and urban contexts.
GeoAI 2025 thus represents a key opportunity for discussion and knowledge sharing among the scientific community, research institutions, and companies, providing a platform to explore the future potential of AI applied to geospatial data and the opportunities for technology transfer to society.
