Technological Lecture | Fire Safety of Building Facades

Contemporary buildings feature increasingly complex envelopes designed to fulfill a wide range of functions: from protection against atmospheric agents to solar radiation control, as well as acoustic performance and fire-safety requirements.

With the contribution of civil engineer Claudio Giacalone, Commander of the Vercelli Fire Brigade and Acting Manager for Fire Prevention at the Piedmont Regional Directorate, the seminar will explore the characteristics of façade fires, examining both ignition events and secondary fires, and providing an overview of the different façade types and the ETICS cladding system.

It will also illustrate the qualification and CE marking of the materials involved, along with a review of major incidents that have occurred in recent years.
A significant part of the seminar will focus on proper construction methods to limit fire spread between compartments through façades, as well as on the practical implications of the technical regulation introduced by Ministerial Decree 30 March 2022 (RTV 13).
