Housing in Contemporary China: Usage Patterns and Demand Trends
Shuang Jin (Joint Ph.D. program between Politecnico di Torino and Tsinghua University) will discuss her ongoing research with professor Francesco Carota (Assistant Professor of Architecture, University of Kansas) and the research fellow Yicheng Wang (Politecnico di Torino).
“Housing in Contemporary China” presents insights from on-site investigations and household interviews carried out across several provinces in China since early 2023. Focusing on the lived realities of typical families, the presentation explores how domestic spaces are actually used, what spatial and functional issues emerge in daily routines, and how these reflect deeper shifts in housing needs. The talk concludes by discussing implications for optimizing future residential design in response to such evolving demands.
The seminar will be held both in person, in the Sala Mollino, and online at this link.
Event coordinated by Camilla Forina and Leonardo Ramondetti.
