SOC-based technologies for the energy transition | Automated Mass Production of SOC Stacks

Solid oxide cells – or SOCs (Solid Oxide Cells) – are innovative devices that promise to make the conversion of hydrogen into electricity (and vice versa) much more efficient, sustainable and flexible. And now, thanks to the European project AMPS, this technology is moving closer to large-scale industrial production. The project involves European centres of excellence such as VTT, Elcogen, Smartal, Haikutech, SITEC, Desotec, Rocksoft, Smartal Enegineering, VUTS, Fincoat and Politecnico di Torino, which plays a central role in economic, environmental and regulatory analysis.

To discover the full potential of these technologies, an international online workshop is scheduled for 30 May 2025 at 10:00 a.m. The event is free and open to all, and is also organised by the Politecnico di Torino, entitled “SOC-based technologies for the energy transition”.

Programme:
  • Presentation of the AMPS project and its objectives
  • Practical experiences with SOFC and SOEC in various industrial sectors in Italy, Europe and internationally
  • Visions for the future of high-temperature electrochemical technologies
  • Q&A session for the audience
During the workshop, Politecnico will also present its case studies on:
  • The use of electrolysers to produce green ammonia in Europe
  • Fuel cell plants operating in the industrial sector and biogas from purification
  • Future prospects for research on these technologies
