XXI edition of Start Cup Piemonte Valle d’Aosta 2025
The Start Cup Piemonte Valle d'Aosta 2025, the Business Plan Competition promoting the creation of innovative start-ups in Piemonte and Valle d'Aosta, is officially kicks off.
Now in its XXI edition, the competition is promoted by the incubators I3P, Incubatore di Imprese Innovative del Politecnico di Torino, and 2i3T, Incubatore di Imprese dell'Università degli Studi di Torino and is part of the Premio Nazionale per l'Innovazione (PNI), the most important Italian event for new knowledge-intensive businesses.
Funded by the Regione Piemonte with resources from the European Social Fund Plus (ESF+) and organised as part of the PNI - National Innovation Award promoted by PNICube, the Start Cup Piedmont Valle d'Aosta is divided into two stages.
Stage I is the "Ideas Competition", which rewards the best business ideas infree support services provided by business incubators aimed at the drafting of the Business Plans, as well as guidance and consultancy services on Smart Mobility in Turin, provided as part he City of Turin's ToMove project. It will also be possible to benefit from the free guidance and support services provided by experts from Invitalia, Official Partner of the National Innovation Award, for the submission of applications for incentives dedicated to business creation. To participate, until 3 June 2025, fill in the application form on the official competition website. The teams that present the best business ideas and pass the selection phase will be contacted directly by the Incubators to start the consulting services.
Stage II, or the Business Plan Competition, will start on 4 June 2025 and end on 28 July 2025, giving access to the final selection and prizes in cash and services. To participate, you must submit a Business Plan describing an entrepreneurial project, again via the platform.
You can participate in one or both phases, free of charge, by submitting a business idea or entrepreneurial project which, regardless of its stage of development, is the result of the work of an individual or a group of individuals and aims to create an innovative start-up. All aspiring entrepreneurs, either individually or in groups, who are of legal age, university students or members of universities and research centres (university students, graduates, PhD students or PhD researchers, research fellows or scholarship holders, tenured professors) and owners of newly established businesses as specified in the competition rules available online are eligible to participate. During the online application process, applicants must identify a reference incubator, choosing from among the business incubators of the Promoting Entities (I3P - Incubatore di Imprese Innovative del Politecnico di Torino, 2i3T - Incubatore di Imprese dell'Università di Torino, or Pépinières d'Entreprises di Aosta or Pont-Saint-Martin, in the case of applications for the Valle d'Aosta Prize).
Business ideas and projects falling within five categories are eligible for the competition: Life Sciences, ICT, Cleantech & Energy, Industrial, Tourism, and Cultural and Creative Industries.
By the beginning of November, the best start-up projects participating in the Business Plan Competition will be announced and will receive cash prizes, as well as special mentions, awarded with the support of a jury composed of entrepreneurs, venture capitalists and business angels.
Thanks to the funding provided by the Promoters and Supporters of the 2025 edition, the total prize money will be over €65,000 and will be awarded in cash and services offered by various partners.
The three overall winners will receive cash prizes: the first place winner will receive a prize of €7,500, the second place winner will receive €5,000 and the third place winner will receive €2,500. The first six projects will also receive a prize of €1,000 each for registration in the PNI 2025, the National Innovation Award, the ‘champions’ cup' among the winning business projects of the regional Start Cups, which this year will take place in Ferrara, at Ferrara Expo, on Thursday 4 and Friday 5 December 2025, organised by PNICube and the University of Ferrara, as part of ECOSISTER - Territorial Innovation Ecosystem of Emilia-Romagna, funded by the PNRR.
There will also be a number of awards and special mentions promoted by sponsors and partners interested in contributing concretely to the development of innovation.
