With the title Countryside architects: Architects and academic institutions’ involvement in revitalizing the Chinese countryside this seminar is part of the series organized by the China Room and explores the topic of rural revitalization in China. The discussion will center on the role of architects and academic institutions in these practices over the past two decades, with insights provided by Lidia Preti.The China Room PhD student Dingran Chen (DASP, XXXVIII cycle) and Francesca Governa will participate as discussants.

Biography:
Lidia Preti (XXXVI cycle, Joint Ph.D. program between Politecnico di Torino and Tsinghua University) discusses one specific aspect of her current doctoral research. The seminar will focus on the involvement of architects and academic institutions in rural revitalization practices in China over the past two decades. Through the presentation of the rural revitalization policy framework and the analysis of architectural projects undertaken in Chinese rural areas over the past two decades, the seminar will also emphasize the quantitative methodological aspect of the research.
