A masterclass with JOHN ACCORDINO, Virginia Commonwealth University - VCU (USA).
How can we revitalize marginalized and fragile territories? What development strategies for inner areas?
The Summer School focuses on comparing local development programs in Inner Areas of Virginia, USA (Main Street Program - MSP), and Italy (National Strategy for Inner Areas - SNAI), addressing socio-economic challenges. Both regions face issues like limited economic opportunities and inadequate infrastructure. In Virginia, national and state-level programs promote economic growth through public-private partnerships. Professor John Accordino will share his approaches and experiences with international students to address these socio-economic challenges and sustainable imperatives. The program includes lectures, workshops, and field visits, with a focus on the Valsesia area in Italy. This area is both a research focus and a real case study, providing materials and stakeholder interactions. The initiative aims to identify shared strategies and best practices for local development.
