Biography

Andrea Avignone is a PhD student in the Department of Control and Computer Engineering and a member of the SmartData@PoliTO research center at Politecnico di Torino. He holds a B.Sc. in Electronic and Communications Engineering and obtained an M.Sc. in ICT for Smart Societies in 2022, both from Politecnico di Torino. His current research interests with the Database and Data Mining Group (DBDMG) focus on applications of data science and machine learning solutions within the Smart City context, with a particular emphasis on mobility, Internet of Things (IoT), urban analytics and data modeling. Andrea’s work explores innovative approaches to data-driven urban systems, aiming to leverage advanced computational techniques to address complex challenges in city management, sustainable mobility and autonomous vehicles, and connected infrastructure.
In addition to his academic pursuits, Andrea is the Head of the Software Unit for 2WheelsPoliTo, a student team dedicated to Moto3 racing, including the two Motostudent competition categories: Petrol and Electric. In this role, he leads the development of technical solutions to optimize team workflows and implement data analytics techniques that enhance bike performance insights.
