Biography

Andrea Costantino received the BSc in Architecture at Politecnico di Torino (Italy) in 2013 (final note: 110/110). The MSc in Architecture Construction City was conferred by the same University in 2016 (final note: 110/110) with a dissertation titled “Assessment of the energy and environmental impact of a building within its life cycle. The case study of a detached house in Almansa (Spain)”. The dissertation was developed under the direction of Prof. Marco Filippi (Department of Energy, Politecnico di Torino) and Prof. Victor Manuel López Toledo (School of Building Engineering, Universitat Politècnica de València).

After the MSc, Andrea was Grant Researcher and Research Collaborator at Politecnico di Torino in the framework of the EPAnHaus (Energy Performance of Animal Houses) Project with Prof. Enrico Fabrizio as Principal Investigator.
In 2017 Andrea started his PhD in Energetics (Industrial Engineering area) at Politecnico di Torino under the supervision of Prof. Enrico Fabrizio. In 2018 he enrolled in the PhD program in Animal Production Science and Technology (Agricultural Engineering area) of the School of Agricultural Engineering and Environment of Universitat Politècnica de València (co-tutelle regime) with Prof. Salvador Calvet Sanz as supervisor. The PhD thesis aims at improving the energy efficiency and the climate control of livestock houses and greenhouses through both a numerical (dynamic energy modelling of buildings) and an experimental approach (long-term monitoring campaigns).

Andrea is active in the academic teaching activity. He is assistant teacher in the MSc course in “Energy systems in building design” (Architecture Construction City program) and in BSc course in “Building physics” (Energy Engineering program) of Politecnico di Torino. Currently, he has a high student satisfaction score (3.8/4) and he has more than 100 hours of experience in this activity. He is also involved in advanced training for architects and building engineers organized by private associations.

Awards and Honors

  • During my secondment period at Universitat Politècnica de València I gave a seminar titled "The role of the climate control in decreasing the overall energy consumption of intensive livestock houses and greenhouses" to the student of the last year (IV) of bachelor's degree in Agricultural Engineering. (2019)
  • I was an active member of the Organizing Committee of the seminar "Indoor environmental control and energy efficiency in livestock houses" organized by DENERG in collaboration with AIIA (Italian Association of Agricultural Engineers) 2nd Section. The seminar was held on 21st and 22nd Febraury 2019. (2019)
