Biography

Domenico Scaramozzino currently works as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Department of Structural Engineering (DISEG) of Politenico di Torino. After receiving the BSc in Civil Engineering from Politecnico di Torino in 2015, he received the MSc degree in Civil Engineering from the same university in 2017, with a thesis entitled "Diagrid structural systems for high-rise buildings: an analytical approach". In the following years, he is enrolled in the XXXIII cycle of the PhD course in Civil and Environmental Engineering in Politecnico di Torino. In February 2021 he is awarded the PhD title, defending a thesis entitled "Elastic lattice models: from proteins to diagrid tall buildings". His research works deal mainly with the application of approaches and computational models from Structural Mechanics to several problems, ranging from the analysis of special systems for tall buildings (diagrids) and long-span reticular domes, to the investigation of the behavior of proteins and macromolecular structures. Related to this last research field of investigation, from October 2019 to March 2020 he was Visiting Scholar in Robert Jernigan Lab, at the Department of Biophysics, Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at Iowa State University (US).
