Biography

Roberto Pisano. Professor of Chemical Engineering at Politecnico di Torino. He received his B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees, as well as Ph.D in Chemical Engineering. from Politecnico di Torino (IT). He performed doctoral research at the Centre de Ressources Technologiques – Institut Technique Agro-Industriel (Strasbourg, France) in 2008, and at the Department of Chemical Engineering of Massachusetts Institute of Technology (Cambridge, USA) in Aug-Oct 2016 as a Visiting Scientist. Pisano’s research focuses on the application of both computational and experimental methods to engineering chemical products and processes, with particular emphasis on pharmaceutical processing and formulation of both small molecules and biologics, primarily lyophilized formulation. In this last field, he has been awarded the Professor Louis Rey Award by the International Society of Lyophilization/Freeze-Drying (Waunakee, WI, USA) in 2012. He is currently member of either the Advisory or Editorial Board of three international journals (Journal of Applied Pharmaceutical Science, Processes, European Journal of Volunteering and Community-Based Projects). He has published over 104 technical papers, 14 book chapters, 1 edited book on freeze-drying of pharmaceuticals and currently has 5 patents issued or pending.
