Road vehicles, whether for private or collective use, as well as transportation of goods, are subject to continuous innovation, particularly in recent times due to the need of reducing emissions. Research topics in this field include:
- vehicle dynamics and its relationship with performance and comfort;
- mechanical components (suspensions, steering, brakes, transmission – considering the requirements related to hybridization) and structural elements (car body components);
- artificial intelligence for automotive and autonomous driving;
- innovative solutions for reducing fuel consumption.
The activities are based on simulations, bench testing, and also on-road testing, covering individual components as well as complete vehicles.
