Abstract

ATELIER – innovATive Education for sociaL Inclusion via co-dEsign pRactices is an Erasmus+ project for cooperation in the field of higher education that aims to strengthen the role of universities as civic actors, capable of responding to the challenges of social justice and inclusion through innovative and transdisciplinary educational practices.

The project stems from the recognition of a growing misalignment between academic training and the skills required to address contemporary social complexities in a situated, critical and transformative way, particularly those affecting people in vulnerable conditions.

ATELIER promotes structured collaboration between higher education institutions (HEIs) and civil society organisations (CSOs), with the aim of co-creating an online, open and accessible learning pathway. The programme highlights concepts, approaches and co-design practices as key tools to strengthen and innovate social inclusion initiatives, fostering dialogue between academic knowledge and experience developed in intervention contexts.

The project is structured into four main work packages, covering management, research, development, piloting and dissemination phases. Key outputs include: an online catalogue of over 50 co-design practices for social inclusion; a repository of theoretical resources; a framework of 25 competencies (competence framework); an open-access Massive Open Online Course (MOOC), including descriptive texts, short video modules, diagrams and practical guidance for applying the competencies; a Pilot School delivered in a hybrid format (online and in person) for the early testing of the learning programme; and a set of guidelines for the adoption and integration of the pathway within university curricula.
