Abstract

The observatory, which since 2000 has been conceived as the core of a territorial information system, represents a quantum leap forward compared to the past, thanks to the potential offered by technological innovation, the availability of big data and interoperability, also in relation to the potential of other possible entities that share the usefulness of knowledge in a reciprocal relationship.

Among the most innovative elements are:

  • a plan for monitoring dynamics and values: the territorial scope has been extended from the city to the metropolitan area;
  • the collection of data not only on values offered on the housing market but also on purchase prices;

the enhancement of interoperable databases useful not only for planning but also for the management of public services within the framework of a new social and territorial welfare system.
