PoliTo Cinema | Beyond Driven

Politecnico di Torino returns with the PoliTo Cinema film series, which on the first Thursday of every month opens the doors of the Aula Magna to the entire university community and the general public. It is an opportunity to engage with film screenings dedicated to scientific and social themes.

The next event will take place on Thursday, 8 January 2026, at 8:30 p.m., in the Aula Magna at Corso Duca degli Abruzzi 24, where the documentary Beyond Driven (Riyaana Hartley, Vincent Tran) will be screened. The film celebrates the life of Lella Lombardi, the only woman to have scored points in the Formula One World Championship.

Through a combination of archival footage, interviews, and personal testimonies, the documentary recounts not only Lella Lombardi’s sporting career, but also her impact as a pioneer in a male-dominated environment. The narrative explores the obstacles, prejudice, and challenges she faced, highlighting her determination, talent, and passion for speed. The film thus pays tribute to a courageous and visionary woman, recalling her legacy in the world of motorsport and the symbolic value of her journey for future generations.

The screening will be preceded by a discussion moderated by the Vice Rector for Society and Public Engagement, Community, and Rector's Program Implementation Sacchi, with the participation of:
  • Patrizia Lombardi – Vice Rector for Sustainable Campus and Living Lab
  • Lorenzo Cambursano – Team Leader Squadra Corse PoliTO
All PoliTo Cinema events are free of charge and open to the public, subject to seat availability.
