Call for Applications – FROMM.Lab First International Design Competition
We are pleased to announce the opening of the FROMM.Lab First International Design Competition, addressed to the student and Alumni community of Politecnico di Torino – in particular to those enrolled in Product Design, Industrial Design, Interior Design, Systemic Design, Design Engineering, and related programs, both at the main campus and in international hubs.
FROMM.Lab is the educational platform of FROMM., a luxury design brand based in the cultural heart of Msheireb, Doha (Qatar), with an operational hub and showroom also in Milan.
Launched during Milan Design Week 2025, the competition is open to emerging designers worldwide. It invites participants to explore how design can connect tradition with contemporary vision, with a special focus on Arab cultural heritage. The initiative celebrates the value of memory and identity through contemporary design, aiming to foster intercultural dialogue by merging traditional narratives with design innovation.
Theme: “Design for a Changing World: Bridging Cultures”
In order to better understand the dynamics of the competition, a webinar open to everyone will be held on Wednesday 28 May.
Lasting 40 minutes, from 5:00 p.m. to 5:40 p.m. (CEST), the webinar will be a session in which you can ask the FROMM.Lab team any questions you may have about the competition, better understand the brief and the timelines, and will feature Dana Said, FROMM.Lab Head, and Etienne Bastormagi, Programme Coordinator. Applicants may register until June 15, 2025, and submit a design proposal in one of the following categories by September 1, 2025: Seating, Tables, Storage, Lighting.
