This 1st level Specializing Master's Programme focuses on the critical role of cultural heritage - tangible, intangible and living - including monuments, artworks, traditions and local knowledge, in addressing natural disasters, environmental crises and climate change. It develops an interdisciplinary, holistic approach, training students and professionals to understand heritage as a resource for resilient societies.
Participants will gain hands-on experience with digital and participatory methods, working directly with communities to design inclusive projects, assess local needs and apply strategies that integrate heritage, disaster risk management and climate adaptation. The programme also addresses socio-cultural, historical, psychological, environmental and spatial aspects, fostering inclusive and ethical approaches with attention to gender and diversity.
As part of the Horizon Europe RESILIAGE RIA project, students collaborate with universities, public institutions, international organizations and companies on applied research and practical solutions for community resilience. Teaching modules include real-scenario laboratories, bottom-up collaborative processes, policy-making insights (including UNESCO perspectives), and civil protection best practices in Europe.
