Biography

I am currently a post-doctoral researcher in Computer Engineering at the Department of Computer and Control Engineering, Politecnico di Torino, Italy. I recently received my Ph.D. in Computer and Control Engineering from Politecnico di Torino. I am working on Human Pose Estimation (HPE) using Deep Learning, and Machine Learning for the automatic assessment and monitoring of neurodegenerative diseases (e.g., Parkinson’s disease). I also develop tele-rehabiliation solutions for elderly, exploiting gamification paradigms (exergames and serious games) as Associate Researcher at the Italian National Research Council (CNR-IEIIT). Moreover, I am also interested in neurological processes underlying motor learning and brain plasticity, and the characterization of these phenomena from the viewpoint of multimodal heterogeneity studies of neuron populations.

My Ph.D. project, supervised by Prof. Gabriella Olmo, was devoted to the development and validation of a system for objective assessment and rehabilitation at home of Parkinson’s disease using RGB and RGB-Depth cameras. During this project I was also a visitng researcher at the Laboratory for Movement Biomechanics at ETH-Zurich. Previously, I received my Master’s degree (M.Sc.) in Computer Engineering at Politecnico di Torino in 2020 with the thesis ”Freezing of gait in Parkinson’s disease: automatic early recognition of episodes from patients’ inertial data”, under the supervision of Prof. Gabriella Olmo. I received my Bachelor’s degree (B.Sc.) in Computer Engineering at Politecnico di Torino in 2018.
