In a.y. 2014/15, Politecnico di Torino launched the Young Talent Project with the objective of enhancing the potential of deserving students.
Over the years, the Young Talent Project has emerged as a testing ground for innovative teaching practices, in line with the goals of the Strategic Plan 2018-2024 “PoliTO 4 Impact”. In A.Y. 2020/21, the project became Progetto INTRAPRENDENTI – Percorso per Ingegneri, Architetti, Pianificatori, Designer Innovativi, a highly innovative three-year educational path which runs parallel to the standard course of study.
The INTRAPRENDENTI project targets 200 students from the Engineering Area* and 40 students from the Architecture Area (Architecture; Territorial, urban, environmental and landscape planning; Design and Communication) selected according to specific merit-based requirements.
Selected students are grouped in multidisciplinary teams that work on interdisciplinary and interactive activities. The focus is on problem-solving and the development of soft skills required to effectively interact in heterogeneous groups and in complex organisational and inter-organisational environments. The culture of sustainability and social impact are integral parts of the educational path. The main educational advantages of the project are the following:
- it offers a specific study plan that fully develops a new educational model starting from Bachelor's level;
- it is a broader training experience that enhances experimental education using an interactive and collaborative problem-solving approach. It gathers students from different degree programmes supervised by specialised tutors;
- it helps students develop soft skills useful to increase a project-based, strategic thinking approach with an interrelated and systemic perspective;
- it issues a final certificate of participation to the students who graduate within 3 years; students can also request the Open Badge, a digital certificate recognizing the skills that students learned during the university path;
- participation in the project is included in the Diploma Supplement.
The project spans over a three-year period during which students are tested to assess their merit and confirm participation in the project.
*Excluding the Bachelor's degree programme in Industrial Production Engineering - due to its specific curriculum - and the Professional Bachelor's degree programme in Industrial manufacturing Technologies.
A specific university committee is responsible for designing and implementing the activities of the INTRAPRENDENTI Project.
