Solar photovoltaic and wind power systems for optimal grid integration

Description

This research area covers multiple aspects, linked to the general topic of electric power and energy systems; the main aspects include:

  • Coordinated planning of photovoltaic (PV) and wind power systems with storage technologies in grid connection, over large regions, subject to various technical-economical-environmental constraints.
  • Advanced models of power production from large clusters of grid-connected PV systems for ahead predictions (from hours to days) with different updates (from minutes to hours).
  • Appropriate configuration and management of microgrids based on PV generators with storage for maximizing the self-sufficiency and the self-consumption of renewable energy communities.
  • Experimental activity on commercial PV modules, including real-time detection of equivalent circuits and automatic diagnosis of failures in PV modules.
