Making HERstory in STEM | GReG Workshop
On the occasion of the International Day of Women and Girls in Science, the Gender Research Group (GReG) and the Gender Studies Center, with the support of the Equality Committee (CUG) of Politecnico di Torino, are organizing the event Making HERstory in STEM, dedicated to the invisibilization of women and the gender dimension in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics).
The event will take place on Tuesday, 17 February, starting at 2 p.m., at the Sala Emma Strada.
To attend the event, registration is required by Friday, 13 February, via the following link.
The workshop will be held in person only and entirely in English. Its aim is to explore how gender continues to influence recognition, careers, and knowledge production within STEM contexts. At the same time, the event seeks to highlight experiences, actions, and concrete projects that promote the visibility and recognition of women in science, showcasing solutions and good practices. Making HERstory in STEM thus emphasizes the importance of making women’s contributions to knowledge production and to the transformation of the scientific community visible.
The workshop will be structured in two parts.
The first part will include two keynote speeches on the topic, followed by a roundtable discussion with researchers and faculty members from Politecnico di Torino who have distinguished themselves for their academic achievements.
The second part will be dedicated to the presentation of ongoing research projects at Politecnico di Torino that place gender, diversity, and/or inclusion at their core, with the aim of strengthening dialogue and exchange on these topics within the GReG community and across the University as a whole.
Programme
14.00 – 14.30 | Workshop registration
14.30 – 14.45 | Opening remarks
