Community Engagement as an Innovative Urban Design Strategy: Conservation and Revitalization of Pantang Historic District
Dingran Chen (XXXVIII cycle, PhD Candidate in Architecture. History and Project, Politecnico di Torino) will discuss his ongoing research with Huishu Deng (Assistant Professor, Tsinghua University), and Yicheng Wang (Postdoctoral Researcher, Politecnico di Torino).
The research investigates community engagement as an innovative urban design strategy for conserving and revitalizing historic districts in China. Centered on the case of Pantang in Guangzhou, it highlights micro-regeneration, participatory practices, and the role of bottom-up initiatives in urban heritage conservation amid rapid urban transformation.
