CODE OF THE CITY: Understanding Cities Through Multilayered Sequences
Alp Arda (Joint Ph.D. program between Politecnico di Torino and Tsinghua University) will discuss his ongoing research with professor Filippo De Pieri (Politecnico di Torino) and the PhD students Giorgia Greco, Jingxiong Huang, and Giulio Gonella (Politecnico di Torino).
"Code of the City" reframes the urban environment as a layered, programmable system where spatial, temporal, and socio-political codes intersect. It proposes that cities operate through underlying protocols—architectural, infrastructural, and cultural—that can be coded and strategically programmed. Within this framework, the architect engages as both designer, analyst and coder, reprogramming the city’s logic to reveal urban design trajectories.
The seminar will be held both in person, in the Sala Mollino, and online at this link.
Event coordinated by Camilla Forina and Leonardo Ramondetti.
