Heritage as a Project: The First Decade of the European Heritage Label
The inaugural lecture of the "Heritage as a Project" series, organized by the Centro Studi Vera Comoli. Centre for History, Heritage and Inclusive Innovation will take place on Wednesday, December 4, 2024, at 16:00, at the Salone d’Onore of Castello del Valentino (Viale Mattioli 39, Turin).
The conference, titled Heritage as a Project: The First Decade of the European Heritage Label, will be delivered by Professor Gábor Sonkoly, Directeur d’études at the École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales (EHESS) in Paris and Professor at Eötvös Loránd University (ELTE) in Budapest.
The event will begin with institutional greetings by Deputy Rector Elena Baralis, followed by an opening address by Rosa Tamborrino, professor at the Interuniversity Department of Regional and Urban Studies and Planning-DIST.

Biography
Gábor Sonkoly is currently serving as a Directeur d’études at the École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales (EHESS) in Paris for the academic year 2024–2025. Since 2018, he has been a Professor of History at the History Institute, Faculty of Humanities, Eötvös Loránd University (ELTE), Budapest. He has also served as Chair of the Panel for the European Heritage Label at the European Commission in Brussels since 2020. Since 2019, he has directed the Doctoral School for Historical Science at the Faculty of Humanities, ELTE, and has led the Doctoral Programme for Interdisciplinary History since 2007. He is the Task Leader of the ongoing Horizon 2020 project “UNCHARTED: Understanding, Capturing, and Fostering the Societal Value of Culture”. Additionally, he serves as the Academic Coordinator and Project Leader of the EACEA Erasmus Mundus Joint Master Degree (EMJM) project “TEMA+ European Territories: Heritage and Development”.
