Valencia flooding: Extreme rainfall, hydraulic issues and flood risk management
A year's worth of rain fell in the province of Valencia in just eight hours, causing hundreds of casualties. This was an extreme weather event caused by climate change. The seminar aims to present the case of the Valencia flooding as a whole, discussing the magnitude of the phenomenon, the hydraulic problems of peak flood discharge and lamination, and flood risk management.
Speaker: Paolo Vezza, lecturer in ‘River engineering and restoration’ and main lecture in ‘Hydroelectric plants’.
The seminar is organized as part of the CAFÉS seminar series organized by the Hydraulics and Hydrology group at DIATI
