Quantum-security communications are more mature today as they rely on systems such as Quantum Key Distribution (QKD). The main scope of EQUO is design, develop and test mature QKD nodes with high TRL level (8-9) with cutting-edge technology developed in Europe, ready for integration in telecommunication networks, both for metro and long-distance scenario. At this aim, a great effort will be put on developing quantum components stable and performant enough to allow efficient integration in a broader QKD system and a specific focus will be given to implementation over even over long distances which, as of today, represent a limit to a wide adoption of QKD systems.
