Abstract

TULIPS will implement real-life (TRL 6 or above) demonstrations of green airport innovations (technological, non-technological and social) that are directly identified as key drivers for the Green Deal Action Plan. These innovations will be demonstrated at the lighthouse airport operator Royal Schiphol Group (SNBV), which is responsible for one of Europe’s busiest airports and which already defined an ambitious vision for 2050 to substantially reduce GHG emissions and improve their resilience to climate change, while setting an intermediate target of zero-emission and zero waste airport operations by 2030. Bythese real-life demonstrations, operational and technical barriers to implementation at airports can be identified and removed, accelerating Europe-wide implementation of resource efficient and low-to zero-emissionaviation solutionsas well as accelerating implementation of SNBV’ssustainability roadmap 2050.To prove that the demonstrated green innovations can be generalised and scaled up on a European level, a number of innovations is also demonstrated at fellowairports Oslo, Turin and Larnaca. Herewith, specificities are considered that relate to airport size, geographical location, and organisational and operational constraints and that ensure coherency of the fellow airport activities with the Schiphol activities.
